“Why won’t I fly?” I always wondered what it must be like to be a flightless bird, watching other birds soar through the sky. Imagine a chicken pecking away at the ground and looking up at eagles soaring, wondering, “Why won’t I fly?” Perhaps, this chicken decides to give flying a go. After one or two attempts at it, it soon realises it can’t seem to fly. This chicken would likely rephrase this question and wonder, “Why can’t I fly?” Would it ever find out why? Probably not. It probably goes the rest of its life thinking it’s abnormal, that something is wrong with it.

In all likelihood, you may have experienced something similar to this at some point in your life. You look on as a peer –  who looks just as ordinarily human as you do – does something extraordinary, with much ease. Something that you deeply wish you could do, achieve, attain, or experience, but for whatever reason, no matter how hard to try, you can’t. Do you know why?

Sometimes, your “Why won’t I fly?” moments lead you to try and try and try again until you finally soar. Other times, your inevitable end is to ask, “Why can’t I fly?” In the end, I hope you finally fly, but if you can’t, I hope you finally find out why.
